Il mio bel roseto è una poesia scritta d’inglese William Blake (1757 – 1827), noto anche come pittore e incisore.
My pretty rose tree
A flower was offer’d to me,
Such a flower as May never bore;
But I said “I’ ve a Pretty Rose-tree”,
And I passed the sweet flower o’er.
Then I went to my Pretty Rose-tree,
To tend her by day and by night;
But my Rose turn’d away with jealousy,
And her thorns were my only delight.
Traduzione:
Il mio bel roseto
Un fiore mi fu offerto,
Un fiore tale che Maggio mai ne portò;
Ma io dissi “Ho un roseto”
E rifiutai il dolce fiore.
Poi andai dal mio bel roseto,
Per accudirlo di giorno e di notte;
Ma la mia Rosa si allontanò ingelosita,
E le sue spine furono la mia sola gioia.
